A couple of years ago, the internet had no shortage of sexual stories.
But one particular story stood out.
A couple from Canada was sharing intimate photos with each other via Instagram, and one of them made the news, becoming the subject of a viral Facebook post, “Killer, Killers, Killings!”
(Aww, what a catchy name!)
The story, written by a man named Mike, was shared nearly 4,000 times.
Mike was on a cruise in Fiji with his wife and a baby boy, when a young man came into the cabin.
“I was like, ‘What is this?'” he recalled.
“He told me, ‘My name is John and I am married to this beautiful young woman.
I am not a guy.’
And he said, ‘She is my wife.’
And that was it.
And he just loved me.”
The next day, Mike posted the story to Instagram.
The next day.
Mike and his wife, who he had met online, were married for a little over a year.
They met on Facebook, where they started dating, and in 2016, they moved to Canada.
“We both love photography, and I just love getting out and photographing people and getting to meet them,” Mike said.
“And, obviously, getting to know my wife and the baby.”
As their relationship grew, so did their love for sex.
And when they started meeting more people, the photos became more intimate, too.
“The more we photographed and shared, the more we wanted to be intimate with each others bodies,” Mike told National Geographic.
The couple even shared intimate photos from their trips to Fiji with each of their friends.
But their fascination with the subject started growing when they went to meet a guy on a boat in Fiji.
“It’s not like we are in a relationship,” Mike explained.
“What we are doing here is being intimate with a different person.”
The couple began shooting intimate photos of each other, and sharing them on Instagram, where the posts quickly gained thousands of shares.
And the couple, who are married and have two children, decided to put their story out there, as well.
“We really wanted to show that we are human and that we want to be loved, and that’s something we didn’t want to shy away from,” Mike continued.
“Being on a ship and meeting other people is just one of the things we did together that got us to where we are today.
That’s what made us who we are.”
In 2017, they posted another story, this time sharing a video of them kissing and holding hands.
The video has nearly 13 million views on YouTube.
“So that’s what started us on the path of sharing our stories and doing these kind of things with other people,” Mike added.
“There are lots of things that are out there that are just like us.”
The video of the two kissing has almost 10 million views, too, with more than 50,000 shares on Instagram.
And this month, the couple is planning to start their first sex-positive blog.
The first post will be dedicated to documenting their relationship, and will be a “safe space for sharing stories, love, and sex,” Mike wrote.
“Sex is not a bad thing.
It is a human right, and we don’t have to put up with being raped, abused, or harassed just to have it.”
